The Journey of Restoring Health
Sometimes, when it’s difficult to recognize our own progress, we can see our journeys more clearly defined in nature. The oak tree is a symbol I often use when working with clients because it so powerfully reflects the experience of restoring our health.
The seeds of an oak tree take anywhere from 6-18 months to mature, reminding us that each of our journeys are unique and require patience. Nature, including our bodies, cannot be rushed.
The many roots of the tree represent the various paths to wellness — places to explore and restore. Once those roots take hold, they are grounded in enriching soil and can grow sturdy and strong. This is also true when our own habits, practices and values of health are rooted in what is best for our bodies.
At the core of it all is your support system — your tribe, your coaches, your family and friends who encourage you to make positive change. The trunk is your most authentic self, with an awareness of your imbalance as well as your wellness.
Finally, the branches represent the possibility of growth upwards and outwards — a revitalized sense of self. The blossoming buds are proof that nurturing oneself can result in a new season of life and opportunity.
